What are those colorful things in the pitcher??? What is their function? Also, what are the things on the child's bed? In the first pic I thought they were puzzle pieces, but in the second pic they don't seem to be puzzle pieces. Out of curiosity, what is the copyright date on the Nelson's Library for Children book? Inquiring librarians want to know... Hi mitsuko I'm George and i work as a volunteer with Siobhan and Sarah doing family activities stuff, you might have seen on Anna's twitter that we were digging on site today and found a plant pot! Yeah it all goes on at Avoncroft. Anyway, I'm pretty sure the stuff on the bed in the tollhouse are pieces of some kind of jigsaw. I'm on site tomorrow so will see if i can track down the terrible threesome that are always waving their camera about and pass on your message!

Sorry for the lack of updates yesterday - Twitter was having a failwhale day yesterday! And mobile signal isn't great out on site. Let's keep fingers crossed for better weather today. The terrible threesome, George?! I know you make us tea and all, but that's no excuse to start calling us terrible. Regardless of the names you're calling us, I'll make sure to check out the paper under the rug. It doesn't look like it belongs... it's not on the earlier picture either, is it? Ooooh mystery and intrigue. Cathy had better hurry up and get here so we can go get started!

Sorry sorry sorry didn't mean to be late! Traffic in Bromsgrove this morning was ridic busy. Anyway... I've run down and got that piece of paper. It's well odd... more or less than the 130 birthday card I'm not sure, but still... What on Earth is this?! Looks a bit like a newspaper, but not like any kind I get through the door. The Bromsgrove Standard is our local paper, but I don't think they go around claiming they cover "a diverse spectrum of topical intrigue".

Wow....that is....interesting. Someone must be playing a joke, as the events discussed in that newsletter haven't happened. Plus, the bit about Mattel and Hot Wheels would date it to the year 2168. What other explanation could there be?

No clue. There's certainly something a bit odd going on around here... ...though I have to admit, I'd really like a hoverboard. Totally Back to the Future. What are the little mosaic things?

Buzy, do you mean the black and white boxes each with three smaller boxes? Those are QR codes, which are a type of EZcode. You can read about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EZcode Sadly, I don't have a smart phone, so I can't scan them. Perhaps someone else around here has the proper equipment...

Hey Mitsuko; you can call me Bea. QR and EZ codes... interesting! I'll go ask the others and see if any of them have a smart phone with a scanner on it. I don't know much about phones, except that mine's pink!

Diszaster and Degravadi have decoded all of them to be the first to be the following:
Does any of that make any sense to you guys?
This whole 2170 business, this is a weird ruse for a bunch of tourists. Though it would explain the birthday card, maybe 130 is an average age in the "future". Any of you guys believe in time travel?

Diszaster and Degravadi? I don't think I've met them... they're not members here, are they? Well whoever they are, thank them very much! I'm impressed at their technical know-how. The Artrix is an arts centre here in Bromsgrove. None of the rest of it means anything though... laser gunners and hover rounders?! I mean, it sounds fun... not to mention those synchronised dolphins... I think anything is possible, me. The others are usually telling me to get my head out of the clouds and such but you know, why not? Why not hover rounders and laser blasters or whatever they are? I think I'm still holding out for a hover board like in Back to the Future...

I think it is interesting that both of these items were left behind for Bea to photograph, even if she missed them the first time.
Is there a volunteer or staff person who might be fond of practical jokes?

Time travel? So full of paradoxes... the past is the future, the future is the past... it all gives me a headache!
Not that it wouldn't be cool... Speaking of back to the future, reckon I can go place a bet on Ethopia securing an Olympic bid? Hahaha. Somehow, I don't think it sounds very likely though, sadly...
But that's all a bit academic, really. I mean, seriously; aside from whether it's possible or not... who'd be time travelling newspapers and birthday cards across space and time anyway? It's a bit random.
Well, we've only been here a week and a bit, so I defer to Simon and Sarah on that one! I think most places have people like that, don't they?

They are a bunch of our associates, maybe we can get them to come to this board :] Anywho, time travel does seem far off, (despite all my wishes to buy that hover board!). I agree, we should def think of who is coming in and out of the Toll House first. Simon do you know if there are any pranksters or kids always goofing around in one of the kids programs? Or if any of the staff likes to play head games?

[ Or if any of the staff likes to play head games? I might think there are, Mr Contaldi, possibly not in the way you mean, but then I'd probably find myself in front of an industrial tribunal if I were to say so on a public website. As to children or young people - not that I'm aware of - I leave dealing with the younger generation to Sarah if at all possible. I have to say I've always been fascinated by the possibility of time travel - I read too many children's books in which it seemed to happen like the drop of a hat - but the logical side of my brain says that it would go against the laws of physics and I can't help thinking we would have seen evidence of it happening. I always liked the idea of parallel worlds caused when two alternatives were both allowed to happen. How different would England or even the world had been for example, if Henry VIII's older brother who was married to Catherine of Aragon produced an heir before he died aged 15 and was buried in Worcester Cathedral. There has always been a question as to whether he consummated the marriage, but if she had have been pregnant, Henry VIII may never have come to the throne - England may still have been Catholic and shared an empire in South America with Spain in the 16th century.

Do invite them along, we like chatting to lots of people! Do they like museums too? Anna, Cathy - I'm going to call you my associates from now on, it sounds cool!
