So, what is the ASA Project? Well, three of us are volunteering our time this summer to Avoncroft Museum to help them document some of the buildings and their contents through the cunning use of photography. The idea is to build up by the end of the project a really comprehensive collection of images. The reason we've got these forums is so that you can see what we're up to! Obviously we're not going to post everything that we take a photo of, because I'm sure you don't want to wade through hundreds of images, but we'll be giving you a flavour. And, the best bit is that if you can't see a picture of something you really want to see a picture of, just ask! We'll scurry off with our cameras as soon as we can and bring you one back. We're kicking off the photos and stuff really soon. I believe we're starting with the Prefab - tons to photograph in there! So, if you've got questions about the ASAP, just ask. We're really excited about it, and hope you are too!

How much longer til we get photos? I'm excited Is this the Prefab you're referring to? www.avoncroft.org.uk/mappop1.asp?id=prefabAlso for anyone else wondering what a Prefab is, like me, here's a quick definition: "A factory-built house of standard dimensions; does not include a mobile home or trailer having less-than-standard dimensions. "

It is indeed that prefab! Prefabs like it sprung up all over the country just after the second world war; they were replacement housing for families who'd lost their homes in the bombing raids. They're quite cute really. I mean, not my first choice of interior decor, but they're easily as well appointed as a lot of studio flats are these days. I know they were a big deal at the time because people got 'luxuries' like inside toilets and stuff. The height of modernity. We're hoping to get the photos up today or tomorrow, the first set. We've got to go through the reams we've taken and decide what's interesting and what isn't! And I think Bea was mentioning some more shots she wanted from a couple of the rooms, so we'll see. But you'll definitely get something today or tomorrow.
